Hydrothermally grown ε-MnO2 at 95 oC has several unique characteristics, which makes it promising as high performance electrode material for lithium-ion batteries, including a. the high surface area of nanowires and b. the high specific discharge capacity of 910 mAh g-1 with capacitance retention of 98 % after 500 scans under constant specific current of 4 A g-1 indicating both high rate performance and good stability.
